Local band brings new members and new sound to stage

For the past six months Chatham-Kent based rock band, Finding Core, has been on the quiet side, but band spokesman, Eric Broadbent says they are back better than ever with a whole new sound.
“About six months ago we underwent some band transformations from a new sound to two new band members and we are now back, loud and proud.”
The band, which is approaching its ten years on stage, has added the talents of Thamesville drummer, Paul Demars and vocalist, Kenny Deuxberry to accompany lead guitarist Broadbent and bassist J.Z. Taine.
“The core base of our band is still the same and we still hold the same values of being a family friendly band, but our new sound is a bit faster and louder than what our listeners were used to,” Broadbent said.
“Our new singer, Kenny, was a member of a screamo band and when we auditioned him we realized that he had an extremely broad vocal range and after just a few run through sessions we realized that his voice will take us to new heights and a broader range of music.”
Broadbent also noted that the band has added the rhythmic talents of Thamesville resident, Paul Demars to the band and the foursome have meshed into a high-energy original band.
“Paul and Kenny seemed to just mesh with J.Z and I, as well as together and it is with their creative writing talents that we have been able to write new songs and even pump up some old ones.”
Demars who has been playing the drums for the past 20 years said he is thrilled to be working with Finding Core.
“I heard them a few times before and my former band and Finding Core played at Rock Stock two years ago and I really liked their sound,” Demars said.
“I joined the band just before this past Christmas and everything just seemed to click right off the start and we have been able to put together some great stuff.
While Demars says that the band has some new music for their new faces, they have also worked on some songs that Finding Core had written and not performed before.
“Eric had a few songs that were great but he had never performed and once when Kenny and I heard them we encouraged them to bring them out and use them; sometimes when you just get the right people together things just fall into place.”
Finding Core will be performing at the Chatham Kiwanis Theatre on July 17 and for more information on Finding Core and their band schedule visit their website www.findingcore.com.
