So after a long couple years the wait was over. The movie became a reality.
Once known as “Under Currence” and now officially titled “A Case of Deceit”, the movie premiered this past Thursday (June 30th) at the beautiful Toronto Underground Cinemas.
This film was the real deal, a full blown 70+ minute independent feature.
FindingCore’s involvement in the movie came about over two years ago, thanks to mutual good friend Justin Chambers whom was heavily involved (director of photography) in the movie. Justin had mentioned that the producers/directors of the movie might like our music and asked if we could submit copies of a song or two. Thrilled with the idea, we submitted two of our newest singles, “Loaded Gun” and “Pass You By”.
We received immediate interest in Loaded Gun, as it fit the movie’s mood like a glove. There’s alot of gun fighting in this movie, and if you are going to a gun fight, you better hope your gun is…well, Loaded.
Shortly thereafter, through communication with Justin, there appeared to be some sincere interest in the second single, Pass You By ( a much softer, romantic/dramatic if you will). Of course, once again, the band was thrilled to contribute another song, and that we did.
Press was very good to us back when the movie news first broke. We did several radio interviews and newspaper coverage was equally strong. Thanks to our local paper the “Chatham Daily News” and a keen reporter with what would become our first “bang on” interview (written by Trevor Terfloth) things were looking up and up, to say the least.
We changed some band members over the course of the next two years, and have re-recorded both of the singles, which will be featured on our upcoming studio release “5210″ due for release in 4th quarter, 2011.
While we were aiming to have the new recorded versions in the movie’s soundtrack, timing was just not there, and the original versions made it to film. Certainly something that we could live with, as this was an opportunity of a lifetime.
So, fast forward to the distant future. In early 2011, word was given that the movie would be premiering this year! In fact, June 30, 2011. We were simply beside ourselves. All of our hard work as a band, the countless sacrifices and so much more, were finally paying off.
As excited as we were from the initial communications of having our songs in the movie, we truly never knew when this day would ever come.
So, the band packs up and heads to Toronto. We were on pins and needles. We head to downtown Toronto bringing a pretty decent entourage of friends and other musical colleagues along with us. We were truly amazed at the support that was given to us. We really had a lot of support.
Fans back home through Twitter and Facebook were incredibly supportive, mentioning us, reposting our notes, tweets, links and so on. Our friends/fans in the United States were doing everything in their power to make sure the FindingCore name and movie premiere details were heard across our border as well. We can’t thank you enough for that.
Until the day of the premiere, most of the cast and crew of the movie, and the band, had not met face to face.
Let’s just say, from the first handshake inside the theater, the band was treated as part of the crew’s family. We were mingling with all the fine talented actors in the movie, many of which enlightened us that they were fans of our music. Totally humbling experience.
The theater lobby was buzzing like a crowd backstage at an “A” list rock concert. It was standing room only, and if one wanted to get a drink, you had better be prepared to be diligent in making your way to the bar to grab what was an incredible deal, $2.00 Steamwhisltle beers, and FREE (yes FREE) Monster Energy Drinks.
Everyone made their way into the theater itself, grabbed another round and were introduced to the movie by writers/producers/directors Adam Kirley & Travis Laidlaw.
A short 5-10 minute comical and emotional introduction led into the dimming of the lights and a theater round cheer by all.
This was it. This is what we all came for.
The movie was great. In your face action and suspense.
Without giving too much away, our song Loaded Gun was heard on screen relatively early in the movie, and carried for a good duration throughout the scene in which it was placed. It was an experience hard to describe. It was like everything we had done in our musical career reached the summit.
Action scene after action scene, the movie just grew with intensity!
Later in the movie, there was some foreshadowing of what might introduce our next song “Pass You By”. To our surprise it wasn’t there.
However, it did come at a point not that far after, and to be honest, the placement could not have been better. Emotions were on high at this point.
Imagine hearing your song in a movie, then within 30 minutes or so, hearing a second song of yours in a movie, on the big screen.
This is something the members of FindingCore will never forget.
We’d like to take the time to thank the entire cast and crew of ”A Case of Deceit”, especially Adam Kirkey, Justin Chambers and Travis Laidlaw. Thank you for believing in us and having us part of your movie.
An extended thank you to fine actors who we met and were beyond cool to us as well.
Enjoy some of the pix from the premiere below!
This is something that will be long remembered and one of the proudest moments of our career!
Cheers
