After years of trying to find my way in life, through attempts at sports and various other avenues, I happened to stumble across music. Coming from a family of several brothers and sisters dabbling in guitar, it was pretty evident that I may at least pick one up someday.
From the moment I picked up my first guitar (acoustic) as a pre-teen, and modifying it after demolishing several pieces of my parents hi-fi set, and electrifying my first acoust-a-beast, my future was etched in stone before me.
It was the early 80′s and FM radio carrying the likes of Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Kiss, the list goes on, but it was what I heard that moved me. I loved the sound of loud ass guitar, and I knew that I wanted to be a loud ass guitar player.
With dreams of adorning the covers of guitar magazines, performing for sell out arena crowds of 25,000 people and hanging gold records on the wall, I settled for performing in spandex pants, 3 foot tall hair-sprayed quafs, and king sized meshed jerseys atop paint splattered t shirts, at backyard parties for all those whom attended (or were at least kind enough to check us out before calling the police.) Yeah, the 80′s were bad.
Had it not been for the support of my dearly departed mother Shirley, who believed in me unconditionally, you probably would not be reading this bio today, More likely, you could have been reading a hostage negotiation request…!
Sadly, in this business, you can be loved for you talents, and you can be more so, hated. I have learned to take the hate as my motivation to press forward that much more.
If it were all to end today, I can honestly say that my dreams have come true, through my band I have received endorsements and products from the who’s who in music manufacturing today, have had numerous press (radio, tv and print) interviews, and have performed on the same stage with many of the greats that I grew up listening to.
In the words of a musical legend Joe Walsh “Life’s been good to me so far..!”
I hope you enjoy Finding Core as much as I do.
